Finding your own private place to be alone and renew is very special. Many people share your quest for inner balance. It's reassuring to discover a higher level of awareness. You tap into or receive guidance for resolving problems. You have the ability to become one with your soul, to think or not to think, to transcend all that you know, and learn new things.

Wayne W. Dyer wrote a book called "There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem." He describes the Spirit as 'that which we can't validate with our senses. Like the wind we feel but cannot see." Where you seek to create peace and fulfillment, simply follow three basic steps: recognize the issue, realize its true significance, and revere Higher Forces that will assist you. The higher energy of spirit will enable you to reframe situations so you no longer see them as problems. According to Dyer, 'the spiritual' is defined by how you think and feel, whatever draws your mind to focus inward. At levels of spiritual consciousness, we're linked to everyone & everything.

I liked your analogy... of the beach. I think peace, inner peace, is like church or sanctuary. it's personal. Somewhere that is safe. Calm.

As far as the giving or receiving... Both are pleasurable. But I mentally try and program myself to do at least five random acts of kindness a day (feed someone's expired parking meter, let someone in ahead of me on the highway, compliment and old woman on her hair, etc.). Kind of like the "pay it forward". They are small things, but I love the energy it creates.
